woo-hoo-10000.jpgToday I got up went to check on some things here and noticed one very important item… My stat counter just clicked 10,000…

Yes, I’m kind of a stats junky, but only in the sense that it’s good to see progress. I know I’ve never had a serious message or an over all theme (apart from just trying to have fun), but I’m not to worried about it.

Just want to say thanks for the interest, you’ve made this an actual creative outlet for me… :-)

Here are a few un-impresive stats I’ve gathered that I thought were interesting to me…

It’s just to bad I’m not cool enough to be taken seriously by Technorati… No worries, I’m not even a year old yet.

I like this chart… It’s cool to see things grow.

Referring Sites are at the top, I guess that means this community things is working.

Apparently I’m not quite a global commodity yet, heck I’m hardly even a national treasure.

I’m always glad to see Firefox and Safari at the top of the list.

domainer.jpgHere is a Mac App that some of you might enjoy. It’s free as a demo, but interesting enough to check out. — Rage Domainer

This is an app for those of us that are interested in how we stack up to the rest of the crowd out there in tech-land. Personally I don’t stand out much, but I do like to know how my clients are doing compared to some of the majors.

Basically the program takes an address and (which I suggest you copy and past strait from your browser, this will minimize error of the specific url) runs it through a sloe of existing online sites. It retrieves the data and puts it in an eye-candy layout thats easy to look at. If you wanted to, you could find out all the same info by going to a number of different site, but here it is done for you all at once.

I’ll admit you may feel like you’re invading someone’s cyber space by looking at stats about them. (nothing that isn’t already public) But, if you’re a web doof like myself it’s a fun way to spend a couple of hours.

Check it out, here is how I stack up on a few issues.

Woopra is a must see for anyone that is interested in stats. Shoot even if you’re not interested in your stats it’s still cool. The online version is fairly normal by all standard; Google, WordPress, maybe even Mint. (though I haven’t seen Mint yet) The basic info is this. Standard Membership, Standard Script copy and paste, then it’s who, where, how long, from where and everything else you can think of.

Yeah, yeah, nothing new. I’ll admit nothing that exciting, all the same stuff. The real deal is the program Woopra offers for download. That is where the juicy stuff is. Once you open the program you automaticaly feel like your watching the stockmarket or something. (made me want to stroke my beard and think about important stuff) Perhaps this is a puff piece of a program, something to make people feel good. I’ll admit for the small timers like me it’s kinda cool to see a ton of useless stats about my site. The bigger picture is what Im excited about.

The Bigger Picture is this. The Evolution of the Internet and its Content. Communication on a global scale at our fingertips. (sounds lofty…& ‘We, already have that’) But this is Another Generation.

Here is my bit.
As the Web grows and evolves their will be a number of sites out there that are large enough to have their own Desktop Application.

I would like to see more or this.
Desktop Applications built with the web in mind, built for a specific purpose and use.

google-analytics-4-17.gif

I went and did it, I kinda had too, it’s sorta part of the business.

Up till now i’ve kinda stayed away from Google Analytics. I really dont have a good answer as to why, i guess I’ve just been so bussy lately that I looked right past it. Not to mention Brody has been taking care of those kinds of things.

Stats are an interesting beast to look at. I like graphs and numbers and all that stuff. I think as human being were drawn to these kinds of things especially if we are personally involved in some way or another. I’ll admit i like to see how many people reacted to a certain post or what time of day people come the most and all that kind of stuff.

Anyone have a bad experience with Google Analytics? (apart from having a hard time spelling analytics)

I did a little snooping and then I remembered that i had turned on some stat counters for my site about 2mo ago and here are some of the results.

  1. Brody
  2. Jonathan & Adrian
  3. Fatdaddye
  4. Jeffculmer
  5. thisiskristin

Way to go, I’ll be interested to see who wins march. Maybe there will be a jelly donut for the winner. Or an apple wrapped in peanut-butter. external-links-feb.gif

here is a little more about you…
