bible.jpgI recently decided to try and read a little every night starting in Matthew. I’m trying not to have a motive behind why, but the reason is to get re-acquainted. Growing up I think I got the impression that reading the Bible was a ‘Holy’ moment that required some kind of personal revolution or personal devotion leading to a life changing thought.

I don’t know about you, but that’s a lot of weight to carry every time I flip a page. Sure I know that’s not exactly the point of reading the Bible, but it’s there all the same. The other side of it is that Reading and I don’t get along very well in the first place. I don’t usually read books in my spare time like most people. For me there’s usually a reason. (like I’m stuck somewhere for a very long time every day, over and over, like a gas station clerk)

So, for now my reason is to simply get re-acquainted, and perhaps get a new perspective more relevant to this point in time.

What’s your reason…?

norm-jon-wedding-w250.jpgThanks to my sister (Joy) here is pic of Norman, my brother. Normally I would have a picture of the person I’m writing about, but if you can believe it I don’t have one on my computer. This is the logo to the none profit organization my brother started about 4yrs ago. I’m not going to take the time to spell out all the his site offers, but I will copy and past a little.

Our Vision

Reader’s Circle aspires to renew the spirit of dialogue that animated the coffeehouses of early modern England and the salons of Enlightenment France. Franklin’s Junto and the Lyceums and townhall meetings of the 19th century also suggest the tone of American life we hope to facilitate. We feel book clubs bring people into the public conversation in a meaningful way, and reader’s circles are a format that we hope adds a new dynamic to the mix of social gatherings that make for a vibrant democracy.

Norman’s influence in the Reading community has began to span on a global scale. If you have done a search for a local book store or reading club you have most likely come across his site. It’s amazing what he has accomplished over the last 4yrs, and at his current pace I believe he will be leading the way for ‘Reader Based’ social networking outside of the web. (actual, physical interaction)

Just imagine if you had the chance to meet up with a group of bloggers face to face once a month, and simply exchange conversation and ideas. Check him out, and maybe you’ll want to start up a Readers Circle for bloggers.

rain.gif

Well I got up this morning around 4am (Pacific time) and thought, “what am i doing”…. its raining out side really bad and im supposed to go to downtown Portland and break out some sidewalk so some other guys can put the concrete back in. Well as you can see above it raining today. So, that should make my day interesting. The only thing i have for the day are all your stories i went out and read this morning.

im not very fast when it comes to reading and when i can see a number of pages or post than im discoraged from the beginning. I did it anyway, and i didnt cheat. I just bumped up the font size in my browser to about 25 and then i could see the words from the back of the room. course there were only about 2 or 3 words per line.

Anyway, Im really glad to have had the chance to get to know all the reader i know. oops my ride is here later
