I made it over to Auburn Grace Brethren this morning and saw a lot of people that I haven’t seen in a really long time. It was fun, but there were a few of those times where I was talking to someone I knew but just couldn’t place them. Eventually I figured it out with no harm and no one was the wiser.

I always find it amazing how you can leave a town for a couple of years and when you come back babies are now toddlers and toddlers are now kids and the kids are now in high school. I know it’s nothing new, but I’m finally getting to that age where I can see how old I am by the size of my friends kids. In fact I even said it a few time, “I remember when you were only this tall“. The kid just looks at me with that confused coy look as if to say, “I don’t remember you at all“.

Church was good, I haven’t been to a Church service in over 4 years, at least not that I can remember. Phil Sparling is the pastor. He used to be my youth pastor when I was 14 or so. He’s a really cool guy and not your average pastor in my opinion. I’m not sure why he’s not average but he’s not. I think it’s because he seems real.

After Church I headed out to lunch with some good friends and we all had Mexican food. Oh, how I love good Mexican food. Brody’s parents bought me a burrito and it was good. It was good to see them, thanks Barb and Mike I had a good time.

So if you are ever visiting the Auburn, Ca area and you’re looking for a Church to visit be sure to stop by Auburn Grace Brethren. You wont be disappointed.

l_51aa54471e10e62e4f46d9c499213a0a.jpgPeople, This is Chris Wilson.

I’ve know Chris since I was 5, we grew up in the same town, went to the same school, and got in trouble with the same principle. Thing is, after High School we kept in touch. We both went our own ways here and there but some how we always managed to meet at the park for Disc Golf.

I lived with Chris here in Portland for about two years, I also lived with Chris a couple of other times in the past. Him and I have been through a lot of interesting times, and I don’t think there will ever be a day when I can’t just pick up the phone and give him a call as if we hung out yesterday. (which we actually did hang out yesterday)

I would have to say that it’s a fair bet that Chris probably knows me better than just about everyone. There are a few that probably know me better, but who’s counting.

I’m really going to miss Chris when I leave Portland, we had a lot of good time and a few crazy ones. He’ll always be one of my best friends, one of those people you can call up and actually talk about life. It’s really rare these days that anyone gets a chance to know a person as long as I’ve know Chris. I’m thankful for that.

This is Pier Park from the St Johns area of Portland. I went to the park today with my good friend Chris, and had one last round. We had a great time, and I’m really going to miss this park. One of the best parks in the Portland area.

If you are ever in Portland and you want to go for a nice walk this is a good place to go.

I’ll be doing Positive Post Tuesday on Chris, just so there is a little correlation.

Andrew-Allen-White.jpgThis is my friend Andrew, I went to High School with him. He is Service Man. Turns out He’s getting married this weekend, and it happening just south of Portland. (Although I’m not able to make it.)

I chose Andrew this week mainly because he’s getting married and because someday he’s going to be our President.

When we were in High School Andrew was the only person who actually new what he was going do. In fact he had known it for about 15 yrs at that point. I believe he graduated West Point 2nd in his class, and i think is now a Cornel in the Military. (all i know is he is in charge of a lot of people) I haven’t spoke to him since our graduation day, but if there is one person I have ever met that I thought could go through the service and still be holding his integrity it would be Andrew.

I look forward to the day when I get to sit down and talk to him about life and what he’s been doing. I could only imagine the stories he has to tell.

I was sitting in my Friends car this morning, catching a ride home from the night before. (Jim and Lindsey) We were headed south on I205 as we were passing Oregon City by the Clackamas River. I started to think about all the people I’ve met here and all the fun time I’ve had with my friends.

We had a bbq Saturday night and a lot of my friends from my old job came over and we all hung out and had a good time. But, I started to realize, again, that there is a good chance that I wont see many of these people ever again. Perhaps I’ll move back to Portland in the future, maybe not. One thing is for sure, take the chance while you have it and hang out with your friends. Perhaps you’ll never move, but I don’t think we really ever know what is going to happen.

brody-scoot.jpgSo Brody flew in to Portland today, not too much wear and tear to show. He only got lost once and it’s kinda my fault. (i’ll take the blame) We immediately took off for Qdoba to get a burrito, I think he felt the need for pay back. Read his post if you want to understand that.

So, yeah Brody is in town and were going to meet up with Phil tomorrow and check out his show. Were going to get some video, so if you have a few minutes check out his blog at 7:30. You’ll be sure to see something. Maybe i’ll even turn on my Mogulus as a kind of back stage pass.

So check it out, and i”ll get back to you.

So this week I’m going to tell you about a guy I met the third week I moved to Portland. Brian was my boss or you could say forman at Coast Pavement Services. Him and I ran the paver together making roads, we also smashed a lot of stuff together. Those were good times.

Brian is one of those guys that can get along with just about anyone and he’s good at being social, which makes for an interesting time in public. We had a lot of good time together and even though we really didn’t get to hang out that much outside of work (cause he lives 50mi from portland) he was definitely my friend and not my ‘Boss‘.

Work is Work and there is always something to bitch about, something is always going wrong and thats just the way it is. Brian took the stress out of that negative mind frame of work. Thats hard to find in a forman. And a good quality in a friend.

Im going to miss him and all the crazy things we did at work. So if your ever in Washington and you meet a Brian that looks like this be sure to say something stupid about Longview. That will get his attention…!

Brian is the one standing by the truck, Mike the driver is another story….

me-going-fishing.jpgSo Im off to the fishing place with my Buddy Jim and my Friend Chris. I’ve got my $8 fishing pole, some bate, my sandwiches, my jacket and we’re off. Fishing with Jim is always interesting because he has a million stories. There not even about the one that got away, there just random stories about fishing. Chris is my other friend that is going. Any trip with Chris is an interesting one. Something strange is bound to happen, unexplainable things follow him and like to play tricks on him.

Dont worry Im prepared, Im bringing my camera which takes 1gb of decent video so if something ridiculous does happen i’ll be sure to get some good shots or video. Maybe even a fish. ha :-)

Im going to tell you about my friend Jim Anderson. He’s lived in the Portland area all his life, and he always talks about how he grew up on Mt Scott. I’ve even met some random friends of his from HS.

The best way for me to describe Jim is that he’s ‘a good ol boy‘. He likes to fish, drives a Ford and has a beer with a whisky backer. Jim and I worked for the same Company, and we started just about the same week. Once we got to know each other a little we started to hang out. I spent a good portion of the last two summers hanging out over in Jim back yard playing horse shoes and ping pong. So many good times in the back yard.

I’ve moved around a good amount in the last few years and I’ve noticed that i tend to meet a very small crowd in every town i go to and stick with it. Jim’s the best friend I’ve had since i moved here to Portland. He’s helped me out in a lot tight positions, also he made the days of Paving bearable. Jim is a good Friend and Im going to miss him when i leave here.

Here is a video of Jim and a little fish he caught when we were out by Bend, OR working on some forestry roads.
