What are you using? I’m in the blue with 1280×800, I’m not quite blind yet. Although if my computer had more options for my resolution I would probably bump it even more. The more crap I can fit on the screen the better.

A couple of days ago I mentioned a Program called Woopra, which got me talking about web apps that are built for desktop use with a Web2.0 doof like myself in mind. Also, over the last few days I’ve talked about a few other apps that I’ve found to be useful. It seems like every day I find a program that I want to try out. Believe me not all of them work out, but there are a lot apps out there so I’m going to keep plucking away at until I find the ones that are really worth using.

Here is a small list of some Programs that I am currently using on trial, freeware, or $paid. Some of these are mainstream products and some are not. If you have any programs you’re testing or really like, let me know because I’m always interested in knowing what’s out there.

random order with numbers

  1. Adobe Golive 9: Web Authoring
  2. MiniTwit: Twitter App
  3. Woopra: Stats Machine
  4. Charlotte: Web Searching
  5. RAGE Domainer: Domain Tracker
  6. SunFlower Public: Web Monitoring

I’ll let you know when I’ve decided on what’s going to stay and what’s going to GO

Any Suggestions???

So here it is, the box… ha ha

Seriously though, this thing kicks some major butt. Here is what i got just in case your wondering

  • MacBook
  • Intel Core 2 Duo
  • 2.4 GHz
  • Memory: 2 GB
  • Bus Speed: 800 MHz

Now i can have more than 3 apps open at once. Now i can listen to iTunes while i work and not my iPod. Now i can use the web and not wonder if my browser is going to freak out because my processor is over loading. And now i can have my files on my desktop with out worrying about the hard drive taking a crap on me. my-40gbhd.jpg
I love this little HD but now its just for back up. Also you might get to see my scruffy mug a little more now that there is a camera right in my face. oh, yeah!!!

Yes thats right i upgraded, I finally did it. Its been about 7yrs since i bought a computer. Thats a long time in the computer world. If it was a dog it would make it around 50yrs old. Im totally exited because this thing is so fast im amazed, but some of the system operations are a little different and i some things have moved. Not much but sometimes it the little things that count. I’ll let you know later.

This isnt fair well, this is thanks for the hard work.

Look at that badboy, still standing with pride. Bullet proof. I never upgraded anything but the ram, and it still runs like new. Can your PC do that. This thing doesnt even have a dvd drive.

This is all your falt Cool Dad & Carlos, not really Ive need a new computer for a couple of years.

But!!!

Carlos did a post about his digital tool box and cool dad responded with his own. When I saw Cool dad’s pile of stuff I almost felt bad, than i realized that mine was just as bad. The only difference is that Mac has a tendencey to look cooler. Anyway, I realized quickly that Carlos started it all so I had to go check it out. Turns out alot of people have alot of really nice stuff.

I broke the rules yesterday and went shopping for a new computer. I held back and didnt buy.

Here are the very simple randy rules for ‘work’ computers. (this does not apply to computers bought for family or as toys)

  1. No Games! -sorry I got hooked on simcity 3000 about 4yrs ago. It was like crack, my city had to be the best, and for some reason I couldnt stop. I had to revert my computer to OS 9.2 for that.
  2. No unnecessary Shopping or browsing to $buy - This leads to a disgruntaled computer who will leave you stranded when you need them the most. They know when were shopping for upgrades.
  3. No Limewire - for those of you that know, Limewire will hurt your computer. Its only a matter of time. Digital Russian Roulet, only it wont actually kill your computer. Just some temporary damage that will make you pull your hair out.
