Today was another day of meeting people, thing is when you read people’s blogs you get to kinda meet them in advance.

Today Brody and I met up with Jeff Culmer. I’ve never met Jeff but from the comments and random emails we’ve had I’ve always thought it would be fun to hang out and do nothing. Well, thats just about all we did. I don’t really remember the name of the place we went to, but it was kinda relaxed and I got to hear some interesting stories about the business.

Oh and he’s freaking tall, so if you read his blog and you’re wondering, now you know. I’m sure we’ll be hangen out more as time rolls on.

I also had a chance to meet the infamous Randy Elrod. Brody and I went to a place to try and get some light work done and get a chance to be away from the house. Turns out Randy is a really nice guy, I’ve always thought so from what I’ve read but know I can back it up.

I’ll admit at first I wasn’t sure who Brody was saying hi to, but then I kinda put it together. I found myself trying to squish the drawing of his face together. (you know the drawing where he has the big head on the little body) anyway… Cool guy.

I don’t really know why some people feel the need to talk when they are urinating, but I don’t.
speaking-urinals.jpg

I went to Church this morning, but before I got there I had about 2 or 3 cups of coffee so by the time I arrived the bathroom was a necessity. I went in as normal, and noticing there was someone in the stall at the end I went about my regular business. I was aiming for the top left drain hole when the “someone” from the stall came out and asked, “So, how are you doing???

The first thing that came to mind was, “well, I’m not totally on target and I’m getting a little splatter, all in all though,,, I’m doing ok.” What came out of my mouth was, “Fine“…???

At that point I wanted to look over and see who it was, but I didn’t want to encourage the conversation. (I didn’t want a conversation) All I could think was, “who the heck decides that it’s normal to introduce them selves with a conversation to a person while they’re peeing.???” I tried not to think about it, finished up and then went to wash my hands. I should have walked directly from the urinal to great him with a nice friendly hand shake, then gone to wash my hands.

As I was washing my hands he continued to ask, “So, how has your week been?” I replied simply, “Can’t complain.” Thats when I notice he had on a badge with a string tying it around his neck. Ding!! Ding!! as the light went off in my head. “this guys is connected to the Church staff, no wonder he felt the need to start small talk. While I was peeing…

I don’t know about anyone else, but just because I’m not inside a stall doesn’t mean that you can talk to me while I’m peeing. Especially if you don’t know me. Seriously, would you strike up a conversation with the guy in the stall next to you while he’s taking a dump just because conversation is a nice thing to do. Hell no

I know I’m blowing this out of proportion, but if the bathroom was a place for conversation while your peeing than the urinal should be facing each other so you can talk face to face.

If you know me than you can ask a question while I’m peeing, other wise please speak only when necessary…

thank you.

First things First, the Church service was normal. Nothing out of the ordinary. I heard a few “yall’s” and few other things that made me chuckle. I think since I lived in on West Coast for so long I’m just used to hearing a lot of different accents but nothing over the top.

Here is a little something I wrote about why southern accents crack me up…

I know this probably isn’t a nice thing to say, but in my head a southern accent has been equated to “being slow“. (mentally) So sometimes I laugh when I hear people say certain things.

The other one is this characture on a cartoon that I’ve seen who has a southern accent and he’s gay. So, every now and then I hear people say things that make me laugh.

Im sorry if this offends you, I know its not nice, but if you’re having a conversation with me and I start to chuckle its ok to kick me in the shin… I wont even make you apologize.

After Church I grabbed my back pack and took a ride on the Scooter…

skoot-on-hill.jpgThis things so much fun, but at the same time it’s a little intimidating. Not because of the raw power, but because of the people behind you looking at you as if to say, “I could squash you like a bug”.

I’m sure there not saying that…

I went to the Mellow Mushroom with Brody, Kristen and fam, and Tracy Edwards and Friends. It was good pizza and a good time. In fact we even saw a person get put into an ambulance.

Basically we met up with Tracy as she and some of her friends were passing through town. (I can’t remember why) We went and had some good pizza and had some good laughs. Tracy and her friends are really cool. It’s always fun to hang out with fellow bloggers and talk about all that stuff.

ambulance.jpgAll the while we were being entertained by some strange deal that was going on outside. Normally you would think that if an ambulance showed up that something serious is going on, but for some reason it wasn’t. All we could see was a pair of feet that made it look like there was a person laying under their car. They weren’t but they were laying next to their car, and it was raining. In the end they were put on a stretcher cart thing and put into the ambulance.

We were concerned at first, but then we noticed that no one out side was too concerned so it became a spectator sport. Anyway it was fun.

open-book-400.jpgI realized today, after putting my nose in a book for a long time, that the one thing I never learned in Grade School or High School was how to teach MySelf.

I don’t blame it on a poor education, I got me good one. But, I would have to say that I really didn’t start to open books and actually learn from them until I was in my last year of college. I blame it on a short attention span. It wasn’t until I found something that I really wanted to learn that actually opened a book and studied what was inside.

I remember it blatantly, I wanted to learn Flash (v5) and the college didn’t have a course on it so I downloaded some manuals and started plucking away at all the timeline crap and symbols stuff. After repeated success I realized that, “Wow, book are useful!!!”

teacher-chalkboard-400.jpgSo now I’m left wondering, how could I have started this at a younger age. Any of you that have known me since Grade School are probably laughing right now, but come on, anything is possible right?

I’ll just keep it in mind, for when ever I have kids that, I still fall asleep just from looking at a book.

I’m going to go take a nap…

montel.gifCan anyone really explain what the fascination is with Day Time TalkShows? Honestly I just don’t get it. Are people really that drawn to life’s drama that they sit around and watch people talk about what ever.

I decided to turn on the TV while I did a little work. At first I was watching some cartoons, but after they were over I just let the previous channel run what ever was on. (no judge judy though) Montel came on and it was some random episode about people and there paranormal experiences. There was some tragic stuff and some weird stuff, but after about 10min I decided to turn it off.

What’s the deal…

I was sitting in my Friends car this morning, catching a ride home from the night before. (Jim and Lindsey) We were headed south on I205 as we were passing Oregon City by the Clackamas River. I started to think about all the people I’ve met here and all the fun time I’ve had with my friends.

We had a bbq Saturday night and a lot of my friends from my old job came over and we all hung out and had a good time. But, I started to realize, again, that there is a good chance that I wont see many of these people ever again. Perhaps I’ll move back to Portland in the future, maybe not. One thing is for sure, take the chance while you have it and hang out with your friends. Perhaps you’ll never move, but I don’t think we really ever know what is going to happen.

The Church is an odd Beast of People and their individual lives. Individuality of thought is a strength, and while being fed is nice, feeding yourself is more rewarding. Im pretty sure we can all agree on that.

I was out reading posts this morning and there were two I read that got my brain gears to turn.

  1. manofdepravity (Tyler Braun)
    • What is Wrong with the Church?

I read Tyler’s post first, which got me thinking about what I thought was wrong with the Church. I thought about a lot of different issues that came to mind, and all the reasons Church has the ability to bug me. I also thought about all the reasons for fellowship.

  2. withoutwax (Pete Wilson)

Both of these post really got me thinking about the fact that I haven’t been connected to a Church in over 4yrs. That’s a long time I know. I don’t advise that kind of a break from the Church community with out sufficient cause. Although I must admit, I’ve gained a new perspective and found a new desire for fellowship. Perhaps it’s a prodigal son type of situation, but I don’t like to put myself in the Bible stories too much. and no I am not a new believer

Here’s what I’m thinking (pete)…We Live, We Choose, then We’re Judged. Nothing escapes the Book of Life. And, while we can hide our Choices behind the difficulties of this Life, good people do unspeakable things. I’m thinking the equality of sin is never apparent because the wave of it’s effect is measured by our approval.

If Sin was Dirt, and you wore your Sin daily, How dirty would you be. I’m pretty freaking dirty, in fact I probably leave a trail.

spoon-w-forks.jpgHave you ever felt like a Spoon that got put in with all the Forks?

Not sure why, but I always feel this way when I go to Church. It’s not that bad of a thing to feel in my opinion, but it’s there none the less. It’s not that I feel left out or treated differently, but something is just a little off.

I think that finding a place where you can fellowship with other believers is a huge part of Life. I’ve always thought that feeling like a Spoon caught with the Forks might be a good thing. Maybe us Spoons have something to offer we don’t know about.

This may sound cheesy, but perhaps us Spoons just aren’t paying attention to the reality that we don’t poke things we scoop them.

blogroll-breadroll.jpgI just want to say thanks to everyone for you comments on the Blog Roll Post. I’ve added everyone I’m fairly sure, and if I made a mistake please let me know and I’ll fix it. Also, I’m a retarded speller so let me know if the spelling is off.

Other wise if you’re reading this and you’re not sure what’s up, go down two posts and let me know who you are.
