This is just a quickie, but I thought this was really cool. If you’re in the Spring Hill area or with in 50mi of it you should pay attention to this and have a voice.

This is Web App Wednesday, the one day a week I’ve allotted to talk about web applications so that I don’t blab about them too much…

This week I’m talking about TypePad… One of the for-most blogging platforms out there, and definitely one of the leaders. But,, I’m a little confused about a few things, and I was hopping some of the TypePad people out there can set me strait.

Here is my Beef

In general ‘Free‘ Blogging is going to incorporate a (dot)something into your domain name, for example visualcoma.typepad.com or visualcoma.blogspot.com or visualcoma.wordpress.com, there’s really know way around that. Even ‘Free‘ has a price, although it’s not money.

In my mind your domain name is ‘Real Estate‘ it has value and it can give value to your content. The more sources pointing to your Domain.com the more the search engines like you. Especially if you’re really cool and you have some real heavy hitters that like you.

About a week ago I decided to check out TypePad to see what all the fuss was about, but I didn’t get very far. I just couldn’t bring myself to put my credit card in and pay to have visualcoma.typepad.com. So I stopped there, but TypePad didn’t. Later that same day I got an email from them asking if they did something wrong.

me –>> “Well, Yeah you did something wrong. The first thing you wanted from me was my Credit Card info…”

here’s the email and what I was thinking…

Don’t get me wrong, I fully understand that most sites are going to charge you for what you see below. There is no doubt that these things have to cost money. I’m wondering this, “Does TypePad offer the ability to mask your domain name with a name you’ve personally registered with out paying for the Premium Package.”

The reason I ask is that I’ve seen more TypePad users take their blog serious than other platform users, while still leaving the ‘(dot)typepad’ in their name.

My Point is this…

If you are serious about your blog than why aren’t you focusing on establishing a domain name with ‘Real Estate‘ value. If you are a Musician, Author, Publicist, Marketing Developer, Designer, Charity or anything of personal value than you Need to be creating a Brand for yourself that doesn’t include someone else’s name.

The simple fact is this.

Blogging has quickly become the latest trend/necessity for online marketing and publishing. Don’t go jumping the gun and get the first piece of land you hear about or see. Browse the market, find out what other people are using and get more than five opinions. There are millions of Blogs out there, trust me 5 opinions is not a hard number to find. Remember, if your goal in Blogging is anything more than a journal to your family and friends than it’s worth your time to do your homework…

So here it is,,, this is where I’ve been for the last few days. Slaving away till all hours of the night, brain storming and typing like a Stenographer on crack…(you know you love it)

So this is VisualComa v3.1.0 and I like it… It’s not a huge diviation from the last design, but its a little more fresh and simple. I wanted the visual focus to be more directed to the posted content. I guess that mean I should put some real content in here then… Another point of interest was to freshen things up by using a relaxing font when possible. Apple Casual is a great font, one of my favorites.

Other News

As I mentioned the other day I actually bought my own Scooter. It’s a Honda Ruckus 50cc, yes that’s the weakest cc I could have gotten apart from getting a pocket bike. but seriously who would I be kidding if I were to get a real motor cycle… I’m pretty sure I would kill myself or lay it down on my foot right in the middle of town and have to be drug out from under it. Then some old lady with saggy nylon tights would come over to see if I was O.K. and I would accidentally look up her dress… So lets just forget about getting a motor cycle. I don’t like what I’m thinking about.

What else is new…

In relation to what else I’ve been doing, mostly typing but also listening to some sweet tunes. One in particular that I got was ‘Grace Kelly‘ from Mika… I freaking love this song, and for some reason they remind me of Queen. oh and don’t ask why, but I’ve really been into the Shiny Toy Guns, weird I know…

Nuff said for now,,, I promise I’ll get some good video of the Scooter in action (biscuet), maybe even a wheely. just for you Wine… I’m building a mount on the front for my camera, so, good time are coming…

Jealous???

I’m not entirely sure why I’m a skeptic but I definitely am, especially when it comes to Church. I’m a very visually judgmental person (even though you will never notice it, and you wouldn’t think it.) and I know that is a bad thing. I also have a tendancy to think that people are what they appear to be, and I know that is wrong as well.

Although I find Church strange in the fact that the same Bible verses are referenced a million time in the span of only half my life time, it would appear there are more than a million different ways to look at something. Believe me I know what the right frame of mind can do for any sermon, and I know what the wrong frame of mind can do as well.

So as I sat there I pulled out my pins and began to draw a few doodles while listening, and as I listened I thought about a few things.

Here they are… I scribbled these down in Church as they came into my head…

Stories for us that we’ve never done or seen, but examples for us to think about. To pretend that we would give up our first born to trust God. Metaphors for life and examples, yet every time the same concepts with a new wrapper… Not always… It’s like a bag of different kinds of candy.

Will I really move mountains?
Will I really have the voice of even the Apostles?
To do what we can to break the Mold…What will we do?
I don’t like the Mold I feel like we stand in.
Is there something different coming?…different in the sense of social structure, something bad.
Is this Mold being built to make us weak?

Make no mistake, I don’t say these things because I’m new believer. I don’t say these things because I’m loosing my faith. I don’t say these things because I want an answer from you. these are rhetorical ‘?’s… But questions all the same, and when I find my answers I think things will be different.

Perhaps you’ve seen this perhaps not… It’s one of those things that I think you will either like or just not care about.

Here’s how you will know if you will like this…

There are three 15min episodes, and there kinda cool. I liked em… I think the kicker for me was that Neil Patrick Harris is the main character. He plays the part good because he’s got such a big head…

Lately Brody and I have been snapping a lot of pics with our phones of some random things. Today I think I was caught, what do you think…

I think I got busted…

I’m now on Facebook, yeah that’s right I’ve joined the masses with the networking gig… Oh and not to mention I’m also on Ning….

I don’t really have a good answer for why, I just decided that if I’m going to be in the business of Web2.0 I’d better have my hand in all the areas the web is offering right now. I really don’t have a huge opinion on FaceBook. I will say that of all the online apps I think FaceBook seems to have a good corner in the market. Just the fact that they allow third party apps to be added to their interface is huge. It gives the control back to the users and offers them the ability to make their network better or worse.

I am also in Ning. The only reason I’m in this online app is to have a hold on some of the existing apps out there. I don’t really know much about this one, but its your standard Networking tool and community portal. Honestly I’m only into Ning because I’ve heard that people consider it to be a blogging platform worth using for artists online presence.)

I’m feeling a lot better, course I got out out of bed and walked strait over to the computer so Im not really sure yet, But I feel better.

There is much rejoicing in my head. I can type again and have a thought at the same time.

Honestly it’s been a really long time since I’ve been sick at all, and on a scale of 1 to 10 it was a 4. Pretty week I know, the only things I wasn’t really able to do was stand up real fast and concentrate. Standing up made me want to fall over and concentrating made me feel like my eyes were going to explode backwards into my brain. oh and my stomach hurt in the middle of the night so Im sure it was a stomach thing.

Anyway, I did a lot of movie listening. (I wasn’t able to watch the movies so I just lay there with a pillow over my head and listened to them.) I also had a few weird dreams.

One of the crappy things was that I had a dream about work. It was good though, I had a dream about how to build something, but then when I woke up I wasn’t able to build it cause my head hurt.

Yes I’m still a little under the weather. My head is kind of achy and it hurts to concentrate on the screen and type so I’m just not going too.
