I recently decided to try and read a little every night starting in Matthew. I’m trying not to have a motive behind why, but the reason is to get re-acquainted. Growing up I think I got the impression that reading the Bible was a ‘Holy’ moment that required some kind of personal revolution or personal devotion leading to a life changing thought.
I don’t know about you, but that’s a lot of weight to carry every time I flip a page. Sure I know that’s not exactly the point of reading the Bible, but it’s there all the same. The other side of it is that Reading and I don’t get along very well in the first place. I don’t usually read books in my spare time like most people. For me there’s usually a reason. (like I’m stuck somewhere for a very long time every day, over and over, like a gas station clerk)
So, for now my reason is to simply get re-acquainted, and perhaps get a new perspective more relevant to this point in time.
