I know I’ve talked about this over and over, and if this subject is getting old to you than you can go ahead and move on. I won’t be hurt at all…
Basically I’m just curious about all those people out there that are still using this browser. Also I’m sure you’ve noticed, but if you are using this browser than my site doesn’t really look that cool to you. Perhaps you just think this site is broken or maybe you know your browser sucks. What ever the case,,, Why are you using Internet Explorer??? Seriously I want to know why… Tell me…
On the flip site Internet Explorer is coming out with a new version, IE8. I can only hope they are going to do some real upgrades and bring this browser up to speed with current web trends and CSS standards. All I can think of is that if Web Designers around the world are doubling their work load to accommodate the ignorant masses that still use IE6 and IE7, than perhaps the developers are getting their act together.
(side note: does IE provide automatic updates like most normal browser??? I’m just curious, because if IE7 is available than why are people still using IE6)
You can only drive a car with out oil for so long before it blows up and it doesn’t work. If IE was like a car then it’s last oil change was probably due about 3yrs ago. And I think we all know how fast the evolution of the tech world is.
Every one of us has bought more than one computer in our life time, and we all know that you can’t even browse the web with a Pentium II any more. So why is it then that people are still using the browsers that came out with a Pentium II.
My fingers are crossed and I’m going to my bookie tomorrow, I’m going to place my bet right now that IE8 is going to be good. I’m not saying this because I have inside info (because I don’t), I’m say this because if they don’t fix IE than it’s going to end up like Netscape Navigator. (what’s Netscape Navigator???)
And if you’re wondering what you should do… “what should I do if I have Internet Explorer and want to change???” Go here and do some research…
Again I ask…
Why are you using Internet Explorer??? Seriously I want to know why… Tell me…

“ignorant masses” is an accurate term, in particular because if i’m not mistaken, IE still holds at least 70% of the market share.
The M$ people are saying that IE8 is suppose to conform more to web standards than IE is known for. And do just a bit of web development and its not hard to find how far off the standards track past releases of IE have been.

I’m still using something even worse, AOL. IE will be like graduating for me.

Up until a month ago I was using Internet Explorer. I needed to use an application for the church that didn’t really get along with IE though. Somebody turned me on to firefox. Firefox is way faster. There’s a few other bells and whistles. But really, to me, it’s not that big a deal.
As long as Internet Explorer gets people where they want to go it’ll be tough to get people to make the switch. I was surprised and a little susicious when I found out that firefox was free. I wonder if I speak for others when I say that when I find something free I have to wonder “what’s the catch.” people have explained that firefox is safer than Internet Explorer. But downloading something free on to my computer is almost equivalent to picking up a sandwhich and eating it that was just sitting on a table at a mall food court… There’s so subtle questions about “I didn’t pay for it so I can’t have it.” and less subtle concerns about the safety of the item being “digested.”
These concerns may not be rational but I think they are hurdles.

Because I am a computer idiot!! How’s that for ya???
Seriously, I have to get new computers for my office SOON! They will probably be PC’s b/c the guy who does all the work on them for me does it FREE. He is not MAC savvy. I can’t pass up free!
IE is what we have had set up on our computers forever. It works fine. I haven’t had any problems until I tried to view Fee’s site yesterday. SORRY for being the cause of your crazy day!
Anyways, until I get my new computers, I am probably staying with IE unless someone comes and changes everything for me. When you are ignorant about computers, change makes you think you will lose stuff and break stuff!!

Amos - Perfect example of being the first on the market.
Audra - wow, AOL… I think I’ve used that about 2 times… It always seemed like a beast of a Browser. Stuff every where, but always seems community based.
Jeff - I think you may have hit a good hot spot there, and you’re right, Free just seems weird. There’s got to be a catch. Opera is free to, and it’s good. So there’s some kind of competition going on here.
Also you’re right, Firefox isn’t that big of a deal. but for me its about making the Internet more usable. If we the viewers don’t up our standard than were going to continue to be sold crappy sandwiches when we could have been waiting in line at the free soup kitchen.
Tracy - Shame on your laziness…ha ha
