A Spoon Caught with the Forks

spoon-w-forks.jpgHave you ever felt like a Spoon that got put in with all the Forks?

Not sure why, but I always feel this way when I go to Church. It’s not that bad of a thing to feel in my opinion, but it’s there none the less. It’s not that I feel left out or treated differently, but something is just a little off.

I think that finding a place where you can fellowship with other believers is a huge part of Life. I’ve always thought that feeling like a Spoon caught with the Forks might be a good thing. Maybe us Spoons have something to offer we don’t know about.

This may sound cheesy, but perhaps us Spoons just aren’t paying attention to the reality that we don’t poke things we scoop them.

really good point man. the local church is an orgasm just like the church at large (all believers). everyone has a role to play and the body has many roles to perform. so spoons can be used to show a different side of things to forks. makes a lot of sense to me.

HAHA.. sorry Tyler.. I had to laugh!

God created us in his image, we all bear different characteristics of God, some of us like you, randy, are creative. some of us like, myself, are organizational freaks… others fall in between. God uses that to bring glory to his name….

I must say however that you must not allow other’s opinion of you push you away from the church…

The problem with the church I see in your post is a layer of immaturity. I meet with a group of guys in my church as an accountability / Cross Centered group. One thing we talk about is how the church (as a whole) Never seems to admit its sin. It looks like a large group of “perfect people.” But in reality we are a large group of people who are filthy, but clean in Christ. I would recommend you read a book called “stop dating the church” by Joshuah Harris…

Tyler - did you mean “organism”

    amos - i agree,

Corey - ‘perfect people’ thats been my thought for a long time. The reality of life isn’t always apparent at Church, and usually leaves me with a sense of shallowness at first glance.

Then again if we all walked around and talked about how big of a sinner we are, that would be a little weird too.

to me, the “church” is just a building made up of people. people aren’t perfect. therefore every church is going to have problems and none are ever going to measure up to any standard. i think once we understand that, it helps take away some of the expectation of what we should be when we enter into the building.
jesus does say that we are to be planted into a church in order to grow and fellowship. i really think that as we mature in christ, we begin to realize how important it is to find a church that we can be a part of and that we can become planted in. i’m not saying you can’t be a christian without going to church but it’s like being a student without going to class. you gain so much more from being around god’s people. and from the time jesus was a small boy his one desire was to be in his father’s house; i think we should desire the same thing.
finding a church you can feel accepted in is a whole other story. but i think it can be done, sometimes it just takes some looking and some patience.
