I was just out side and I had my first thoughts of spring. I walked out to a gentle rain, tiny little drops falling to the pavement. That smell of moisture hitting the ground triggers so many memories. Childhood, Baseball, running out to center field and the list goes on.
I just love that smell of a light rain hitting the ground, it smells like dirt. I know thats kinda weird, but when i was young i spent so much time outside playing and getting dirty that i just love it.
I remember being out till dark, hammering a million nails for my wood steps, so I could climb up into my tree-fort. Racing though the weeds and trees, dodging the poison oak, trying to hid from my younger brothers and sister.
I’ll admit, I miss being a kid, but I love being an adult. I could still do all those things if I wanted to, I could still stay out making tree forts and hiding in the bushes. The years could go by but I think i’ll always be that same wild kid with a tendency for trouble.

Rain hitting the dirt is my FAVORITE smell! I totally relate. When my parents had their pool put in, for a while, we were swimming in it without the concrete around it. It was just dirt. And I would spill water onto it and hang my nose over the edge to smell that smell.
Yeah, maybe I’m a little bit weird about it…
I like the little dance you are doing in the picture.
yeah, im the one with my arm around my face. Jonathan is doing the little jig and julie is trying to make sure Jonathan doesnt break anymore bones. The dog (cindy) just wanted a piece of the action. ha ha
Wow, this is a great picture. We have it hanging by the entrance to our apartment! Jonathan walks the same now as it looks like he did then. And is that Daisy in her prime?
Oh, I see from your comment above that the dog is Cindy. Sorry. Yeah, I have heard a lot about Cindy from Jonathan. I never knew she looked like Daisy though.
